ACTS

ACTS stands for Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service.


The saints are exemplars of how to follow Christ; they teach us how to live faithful and holy lives. The saints are our advocates and intercessors, and they are also friends and mentors.

ACTS Core

ACTS Core is the governing body for the ACTS Community and works to serve the ACTS Retreats offered in our Parish. The ACTS Core team works to support ACTS Retreats financially and logistically. One retreat per year is offered for each group: Men, Women, and Teens. Serving on the ACTS Core is a three year commitment. Men's ACTS

Our monthly Men’s ACTS Prayer Breakfast is held the third Friday of each month, from 6:30 am to 7:30 am at the Parish Center. Men who have attended a Men’s ACTS Retreat anywhere are encouraged to attend. It is a time to continue focusing on our daily faith in the name of the Holy Spirit. Teen's ACTS

The goal of the Teen ACTS retreat is to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ. Teens and adults interact through prayer, scripture sharing, games and exercises. In addition to religious and spiritual topics, social issues and morality are discussed.


Teen ACTS Retreat is open to teens that are 15 years of age or older and have completed at least one semester of high school.

Women's ACTS

The Women’s ACTS hold their monthly gathering every 2nd Wednesday of the month in the Banquet Hall. All Women’s ACTS members are encouraged to attend. Please join us for a time of prayer and fellowship.

CYO (Catholic Youth Organization)

CYO Sports is a parish based program open to all children and adolescents, regardless of race, religioun, national origin, family or economic status. It serves over 13,000 children and adolescents annually in 60 athletic associations with the help of over 5,000 adult volunteers. To offer all youth, sports and recreation programs emphasizing friendly competition through good sportsmanship "modeled" by adult participants. To invite all participants, Catholic and otherwise, youth and adults, to share in the life of their church and faith community. Holy Name Society

The mission and purpose of the Holy Name Society is to promote and spread respect for and devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. The modern HNS strives to continue serving His Holy Name through prayer and the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. We attend 8:00 am Mass together on the 2nd Sunday of each month. After Mass, we gather in the Parish Center for refreshments and a short meeting. Members are encouraged to participate in various activities and events which promote the love of Christ. Knights of Columbus Council #7016

The Knights of Columbus are men of faith and action. Our charitable activities encompass an almost infinite variety of local, national, and international projects. Through the sponsoring of church related activities, we continue to show that we are the strong right arm of the church. If you would like to be part of an international fraternal organization whose principal work involves helping others in need, we invite you to join us. Quilting Group

The quilting group meets on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am at the Hogan House (119 Shannon Lee). For more information please contact Mary Tafolla at 210-824-5972.

Senior Center

The Hogan House at 119 Shannon Lee is provided for our senior citizens to socialize and promote fellowship through various activities. Arts and crafts, canasta, cards, games, dominos and a library are a few of the activities to enjoy. Sewing Group

This women's group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at the Hogan House (119 Shannon Lee). The group makes vestments, Altar cloths, baptismal and confirmation stoles. You do not have to know how to sew to belong the the group. For more information please contact Carol Gilbert at 210-341-0921.

VSP - Very Special People

The objective of the VSP's is to foster strong community social relations among senior adults of the parish through events designed to establish closer friendships.


We are a social group who meet on the first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. We enjoy coffee and pastries, and we play games (Dominoes, Chicken Foot, Cards, etc.). Our delicious lunches are catered by Luby's Catering. We also take occasional trips, and host an annual Christmas party to provide further fellowship.


Come join us for some fun, food and fellowship. The only requirements are: you must be at least 55 and a registered member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
